The world football governing body – FIFA – might dump Nigeria as host of the upcoming Under 17 World Cup tournament. FIFA said poor preparations and lack of serious commitments from the Nigeria government might force it to change its mind.
The Vice president of FIFA, Jack Warner said this during the official launching of U-17 World Cup emblem at the presidential Villa in Abuja this week.
Warner, who heads the 20-man FIFA inspection team to Nigeria, said there is a lot of work to be done in all the stadiums they visited in the country. “I am disappointed with the level of preparation I see in Kano And Enugu states,” he said.
The Media Consultant of FIFA Emmanuel Maradas said that “FIFA’s executive committee will have to decide next month on Nigerian chances to host the junior World Cup.”
