People who want to support the Atlanta-based Miss Africa USA Pageant winner of 2009, Nyasha Zimucha, ought to tune in to the premiere of the reality television show, Little Miss Perfect, that will appear on WE Tv on Tuesday, February 17th. Miss Africa USA Nyasha Zimucha will star as a judge on the reality television show that will take a close look at the controversial but fascinating world of beauty pageants for little girls.
Nyasha Zimucha is certainly well qualified to judge beauty pageants as this pageant winner is a dynamic combination of beauty with brains. She is also bountifully gifted both artistically and athletically. Born and raised in South Africa (her hometown is the same as that of actress Charlize Theron), Nyasha Zimucha is fluent in five languages. She trained at the Johanna Wright School of Ballet in East London and has studied song, jazz, hip-hop and theatrical arts in New York City. She has performed in over 300 venues throughout the world. She acted in the Pittsburgh Theater for two years, appearing in such famous and classic plays as Wizard of Oz, Annie, Chicago and Guys ‘n Dolls. Nyasha Zimucha has also performed with the well-known and respected African dance and theater troupe called Ubuntu Rhythm that does renditions of classic African folk tales through song and dance throughout the nations of southern Africa.
The lithe and energetic Nyasha Zimucha has been a professional National Football League cheerleader. Millions of people have watched her on television giving the best sort of rah-rah and root for football.
In addition to winning the 2009 Miss Africa USA crown, Nyasha has served as an assistant director for Miss Universe, Inc. This multi-talented and efferfescent young woman has also appeared in a national campaign for Nondi Luxe Swimwear and been a NASCAR spokes model.
Lady Kate Atabong Njeuma is the founder and Executive Director of the Miss Africa USA Pageant. What does she believe were the decisive factors leading to Nyasha Zimucha’s winning the Miss Africa USA crown for 2009? “I think Miss Nyasha Zimucha impressed the judges by her stage presence and confidence,” Lady Kate comments. “Her acts were very well orchestrated, her choreography was great and she just used her stage time to really sell herself extremely well. She is an eloquent and intelligent young lady who simply worked very hard for the crown and that was reflected by her performance. She really exemplifies true African beauty and had all the qualities of a queen. It is always a tough choice for the judges who offer to judge the pageant each year because all the delegates make excellent presentations but at the end of the day there is going to be just one overall winner and Miss Nyasha was that all rounder. She scored excellent on all criteria with great public speaking qualities, elegance, fashion and beauty. She is also multi-talented.”
Every Miss Africa USA has a platform and promotes a cause. That of Nyasha Zimucha is awareness of, and opposition to zenophobia (fear of foreigners). As Lady Kate relates, this is a “problem that has plagued [Nyasha Zimucha's] native South Africa in recent months. She plans to have all the proceeds from this campaign go towards helping refugees in the Zenophobia camps set up in South Africa after recent zenophobic attacks that led [to] many residents losing their homes and livelihood for fear of persecution.”
Miss Africa USA 2009 is deeply socially conscious and volunteers much time with several charities including the Salvation Army. “Over the Christmas break she spent time in her local hospital visiting very sick children and inspiring them to fight on and stay strong,” Lady Kate reveals. “She read stories to the very young children in the hospital fighting cancer.” This Miss Africa USA is also a strong supporter of the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF). Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons, owners of the Simmons Jewelry Co., founded the DEF to build school in African countries in which diamond is being mined. “They are empowering communities through free education,” Lady Kate asserts.
Many more projects are likely to come up during Nyasha Zimucha’s reign as Miss Africa USA. More about this pageant and about Nyasha Zimucha and her activities may be learned by visiting the pageant’s website at missafricaunitedstates.com.
