The Ugandan American Muslim Association held its first annual conference on the 19th September in Waltham, Massachusetts at the Best Western TLC Hotel. The event was also used to celebrated the end of the holy month of Ramadan and EID. The event drew participants from as far as Maryland and New Jersey. According to UAMA publicity secretary Mr. Hassan Ssekabira the main mission of the group is to strengthen the Ugandan Muslim community in the US by re-energizing their faith and offering networking opportunities. During the festivities several pledges totalling over $22,000 were made for the construction of a Mosque.
