Mrs.Marjorie Juliet Nalika Kavuma, died on November 25th, 2009 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, in Van Nuys, California from complications related to Parkinson’s disease.
Mrs Kavuma was born on August 4th, 1939 at Rubaga Hospital, the daughter of the Late Owekitiibwa Ezekiel Walusimbi, former Regent and Chancellor of the Exchequer during the late Sekabaka Muteesa II’s reign.
She attended elementary school in Kibanga Ssesse Islands when her father was the “Kweba” at the time. Then on to Mengo Junior Girls Schools, Namagunga School and Kings College Buddo. Following training at Kyambogo Teacher’s training College, she moved to the United Kingdom where she studied law and was subsequently appointed barrister of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.
Her love for the spoken and written word lead her to pursue a writing career across East Africa where she on both Editor-in-Chief and publisher roles. She authored several articles in print media including the Souvenir publication of the Coronation of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
In her later years the Mrs. Marjorie Kavuma lived in Boston, Massachussetts and more recently moved to Los Angeles, California close to her family.
Mrs. Kavuma is survived by two sons and four grandchildren.
Burial will be in Namungo, Mityana District, Uganda.
