Dear Readers,
Welcome to our anniversary issue of UNAA Times. How the year has flown by so quickly. It was only yesterday that I recall discussing this vision for an online edition with my Old Budonian colleague and now business partner Mr.Solomon Jagwe. And look at how far we have come. In this regard I would like to thank you our readers for taking the time and initiative to read our daily updates, to all our advertisers for taking a chance to advertise with us. We have seen our membership grow to 113 countries and have also harnessed the power of socio-networking sites like Twitter and Facebook
December is finally upon us and that means that if you had any New Year’s resolutions made it is about time you pulled out your report card and took stock of your achievements. As for me, December brings with it some mixed reaction as I look forward to celebrate the joy the holiday season brings and on the other hand the sadness of remembering those dearly departed.
But how can you fail to get lured into the mood as shoppers, decorations and Christmas/holiday melodies begin to make their way into our hearts. It is my prayer that you will celebrate the meaning of Christmas with those dearest to your hearts.
Another highlight we often commemorate on December 1st is The World Aids Day. In my home country of Uganda this is an epidemic that has affected nearly every citizen. A recent study conducted by some researchers from the Massachusetts Department of Public revealed that the rate of HIV infection among our African communities and Ugandans in particular was steadily growing in Massachusetts. This therefore calls for a change in our moral behaviour if we are to live to see our grand children as a community.
However not all has been lost, this year we wanted to celebrate the achievements that this year has brought and to also promise you that next year expect more devotion on our part to our Galiwango Project and the UNAA Times TV news resource. We are here to change the way you as Ugandans receive your news and in this respect we shall utilise all the latest technologies out there.
As I conclude please be reminded that we at UNAA Times are seeking to serve all Ugandans irrespective of tribe, creed or background. We therefore call upon all of you to help us spread the word by reaching out to all those people you know have not yet heard about us. Our vision for the future is to see more I-Reporters send us news stories about the happenings within their communities.
Because we are a small team we can not afford to cover all the events involving Ugandans but if you all took the initiative and filed a brief report with a good accompanying image we shall always do the rest and attribute the story to the writer. We would like to thank you all for believing in us and the vision that UNAA Times has now become we are eternally grateful for all your support.
Happy Holidays.
Sincerely,
Ronnie Mayanja
