I went to Uganda to learn about the endangered mountain gorilla. The experience of being face to face with the great ape surpassed all my expectations. It touched me deeply… thinking of those moments brings me to tears each time. I am oppose to have animals in captivity, so seeing these beautiful creatures in the wild and growing in number was probably one of the most extraordinary moments of my years of traveling. Although there are strict rules to track gorillas, the reality is that we are just visitors in their home, so it can be quite unpredictable, yet that was the magic of being in the wilderness with them.
