Ugandan Diaspora Memorial: In Loving Memory of Paul Kim

By Olivia Kim, UK | August 7th ~ A memorial Letter ~ “THREE LONG MONTHS!”

It is three long months today since you’ve been gone. Three months ago (May 7th), Paul Kim; our friend, son, brother, uncle, my loving husband, and daddy to our daughter, Kisha, went to be with the LORD. As each day comes and each day goes, we remember him with tears, with laughter, and with joy. I know that God gave me an opportunity to share my life with him to the maximum.

The LORD has continued to show his love, comfort, and joy to us through all of you that continue to love us, call us, stop-by, encourage me, laugh with me, and more so – show so much love and care to our little girl. I know that the future is bright because the LORD is light.

I would like to share with you these pictures, especially, for those of you that were unable to go with us to lay Paul in his final resting place. The grave has finally been completed and sealed with a picture of his handsome face hanging on the tombstone.

Again, I would like to take this moment to THANK YOU SO MUCH for your prayers and contributions towards bringing Paul home and for giving him such an honorable burial.

He rests in peace in heaven, seated with Jesus Christ at the right hand of God the Father, singing Holy, Holy, Holy, to the Father.

Someday, we will see you again my love, when we too come home to our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR THE THINGS HE HAS DONE……..

Philippians 3:20-21
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself”.

Sincerely, Olivia Kim

A Thank You Note from Olivia Kim ~ “Glory be to the Lord!!!!! Am sitted in my bedroom writting this note to you with a wide smile and enormous joy in my heart knowing that a few hours ago my husbands body was Airbone to Uganda.

This has been a collective effort of all of you who know the Kims and those who dont and for that reason even saying thank you for contributing to this cause is not enough. I can only tell the Lord to bless each of you for your kindness, giving, prayers and moral support.

When paul passed on on the 7th of May, I walked out of the ICU room and asked the Lord for 2 things:
1. Take me back home to be able to say farewell to my husband at his burial despite the situation of being 39 weeks pregnant.
2. Open the heavens and pour a blessing for Paul’s body to go back to Uganda in one piece so that he can have an honourable farewell to his resting place as a son of God.
The lord granted me both these desires and for that reason I thank him for his faithfulness.

My days and months ahead are in the Lords hands. Me and Kisha we shall live each day trusting the Lord to take us through.

Paul’s life even in death has continued to be a testimony and has challenged all of us to live our lives with purpose and touch those around us with the little we can.

EACH ONE TOUCH ONE WITH THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST AND WE SHALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE……”

By Olivia Kim ~ Dear Friends, Paul was admitted into the ER last Thursday, April 28th complaining of headache and high fever. Suspecting that he had malaria due to having traveled from Africa recently, he was given quinine tablets while awaiting other tests, including the malaria test, which was negative. As a side effect of the malaria medication, he developed vomiting.

Two days later he started experiencing shortness of breaths. The doctors realized that he had aspired some of the vomit into his lungs causing severe infection. They immediately put him under close monitoring in the ICU and placed him in a medically induced coma in order to effectively treat the infection while on the mechanical breathing ventilator.

The doctors did their best to treat the infection but Paul’s body did not respond as expected. We love Paul very much, but God loves him more and has decided to take him home. In the end, not our will but God’s PERFECT will has been done.

Many of you dear friends responded to the call for prayer and fasting while Paul was in the hospital. You encouraged me and stood with me when Paul and I needed you the most. Thank you very much!

Paul lived a full life. He loved his GOD!!! He was a great husband and wonderful dad to his soon to be born daughter. He impacted many people especially through his music with the band, First Love gospel group. Today, we celebrate Paul’s life because his life was all about LOVE!

Paul will be laid to rest in Uganda. We shall keep you posted on the funeral plans in the upcoming few days.

Sincerely,
Olivia Kim

O my dear sister Olivia! During such times, silence is the best condolence because it will not be easy to receive your child without Paul. Nevertheless you have filled me with hope with the words you have used. I am sure that Jesus who walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death has already encouraged you. Please hold on tight to His hand. He alone will give you the words of comfort that not even the closest of your friends or relatives will give you. He sees you and hears you when you call and he will carry you on His shoulders during these times. May the peace of God that surpasses ALL understanding be with you NOW AND FOREVER MORE. Rest in peace Paul.
