Uganda Cultural Focus ~ Will East Africa’s Ateso language die?

BBC ~ The Iteso people of eastern Uganda and western Kenya are looking for ways to preserve their language Ateso.

An estimated 7,000 languages are spoken around the world, but that number is expected to shrink rapidly in the coming decades.

According to the UN cultural body Unesco, Ateso is one of those in danger of disappearing.

For the BBC’s Network Africa, Odeo Sirari, who is from Tesoland himself, reports on what would be lost if the language died.
