ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar – Madagascar’s president said Tuesday that he has handed over power to the military. In a radio address Tuesday, President Marc Ravalomanana says he is stepping down and a military directorate will take over. Read the full story

AfricaNews Monitoring Team | Soldiers in Madagascar seized one of the palaces belonging to the embattled President Marc Ravalomanana, in the centre of Antananarivo. Explosions and gunfire erupted as tanks smashed the palace gates. The central bank was also reportedly taken. Read the full story
