wes1528mf-35811_lg The countdown is on, with only a few weeks left to the much-anticipated 9th International Community of Banyakigezi (ICOB) annual convention! This year’s event will beheld at the luxurious 4 diamond Westin Waterfront Hotel in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts – which we have every intention of turning into “Little Kigezi” during our stay, August 26-29, 2010.

Our outstanding ICOB-Boston Planning Committee is working tirelessly and excitedly to put the finishing touches to the 4 day event. Please take a moment to look at the Conference Program section below, for detailed insight into the itinerary we have carefully put together. You will find that there will be plenty of opportunities for fun, mixing and networking. But receiving just as much attention are the plenary sessions; a chance for us to explore solutions for avoidable tragedies such as the landslides and the waragi poisonings that are killing our people, to seek solutions for the high infant & maternal mortality rates, the plight of the Batwa, and more.

Early on at the inception of ICOB, we realized that a key ingredient for development is a good education; thus the Kigezi Education Fund (KEF) was born. At the Dinner Gala and through out the convention there will be fundraising opportunities towards KEF’s continued growth. Please visit our website, www.abanyakigezi.org to learn more about the difference KEF is making in the lives of our youth today.

Also important to note is that this is an election year for ICOB! Elections will be held for the esteemed positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. So, come prepared to be a part of this monumental event by adding your vote, or even standing as a candidate.

We look forward to receiving you in our grand, historical city of Boston at what promises to be a magnificent ICOB convention.

What an excellent write-up! And I love how the piece is elegantly laid out, perfectly reflecting the essence of ICOB and what to expect at the ICOB-Boston convention!
As always, you’ve got your ear to the ground, helping decipher and pass on info to the masses. We are thankful for you, UNAATimes.
