Tullow Oil plc is an independent global oil and gas exploration company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It has interests in over 85 licences across 23 countries and in 2010 produced 58,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Its largest activities are in Africa, where it has discovered new oil provinces in Ghana and Uganda.
Its primary listing is on the London Stock Exchange and it is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It has a secondary listing on the Irish Stock Exchange. In Uganda Tullow Oil operates three licences in the Albertine Rift Basin. Since 2004 to date 40 wells have been drilled and 1.1 billion barrels of Oil discovered with a future 1.4 billion barrels in reserves. The project is now in its development phase and very soon Uganda will be join the ranks of Oil producing nations with a production of more than 200,000 barrels of Oil a day.

It is with this background that Mr. Elly Karuhanga the President of Tullow Oil Uganda was invited by the Uganda North American Association[UNAA] to present some details about the Oil discovery in Uganda. In his presentation Mr. Karuhanga invited qualified Ugandans to come back home and participate in pioneering the development of this new oil and gas sector.
Apart from the presentations, Q&A, Tullow also presented the UNAA Denver Convention attendees with an opportunity to apply for job openings at Tullow.
A vendor booth was readily available for those with questions on the Oil and Gas management sector in Uganda. This was manned by Miss Nana Kagga a Chemical engineer at Tullow’s london offices and Cathy Adengo a Communication manager. Mr. Elly Karuhanga also applauded the work and efforts
of Ugandans like Kwatsi Alibaruho the first African America with Ugandan DNA to lead a mission into space.
