The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) was established in August 1996 by the Uganda Wildlife Statute, which merged the Uganda National Parks and the Game Department. It is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by minister responsible for wildlife.

UWA is in charge of management of 10 National Parks, 12 Wildlife Reserves, 14 Wildlife Sanctuaries and provides guidance for 5 Community Wildlife Areas.

To be a leading self-sustaining wildlife conservation agency that transforms Uganda into one of the best eco-tourist destinations in Africa.

MISSION STATEMENT
UWA’s mission is to conserve, economically develop and sustainably manage the wildlife and Protected Areas of Uganda in partnership with neighbouring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.

Friend a Gorilla Campaign | Saving the last remaining Mountain Morillas | Key Club International on 10th July in Memphis City, USA, joined the worldwide campaign to save the Uganda Mountain Gorillas in a charity walk that attracted friend-a-gorilla Ambassador and Hollywood star Simon Curtis. Over 1000 Key Club Members paid $10 each to participate.
